HeyGen Payment Failed: Fix Billing, Card and Subscription Issues
Troubleshoot HeyGen payment failures, billing delays, Stripe or Chargebee issues, Apple subscriptions, card changes and payments that complete without activating the plan.
Quick answer
HeyGen billing can be managed through its web billing portal or through Apple, depending on how the subscription was purchased. Payment-method changes, 3DS processing delays and paid-but-still-Free accounts should be diagnosed in the correct billing channel.
Quick answer
If a HeyGen payment failed or your plan did not activate, first identify the billing route.
HeyGen documents separate flows for:
- website billing through its billing portal,
- Apple App Store subscriptions,
- payment methods that can take time to settle,
- and cases where payment completed but the account still shows Free.
Official references:
Check the billing route first
For website subscriptions, HeyGen directs users to:
Settings → Plan & Billing → Manage Billing
That billing portal can be provided through Stripe or Chargebee.
From there, an active subscriber can review billing details, invoices and payment methods.
If the subscription was purchased through Apple App Store, payment changes are handled in the Apple account instead. Changing a card in HeyGen’s website billing portal will not fix an Apple-controlled subscription.
If you need to change the card
HeyGen says active website subscribers can use the Manage Billing Info area to:
- add a payment method,
- update billing details,
- review invoice history,
- and change the default payment setup.
If the current card expired or the issuer is blocking the renewal, update the method in the same billing channel that owns the subscription.
If the payment is still processing
Not every payment that looks delayed has failed.
HeyGen notes that some payment methods can take several business days to fully process. Its billing documentation specifically mentions bank transfer, SEPA and certain debit-card payments with 3DS security.
If the bank shows activity but HeyGen has not yet activated the plan, check whether the transaction is still processing before purchasing again.
Charged, but the account still shows Free
This is a different symptom from a simple checkout decline.
HeyGen says that if more than the expected processing window has passed, the payment is completed, and the account still shows as Free, contact support for help.
Before contacting support, record:
- the account email,
- payment date,
- amount,
- billing route,
- and invoice or transaction reference when available.
Do not send full card credentials by email.
Website subscription versus Apple subscription
A billing fix has to happen in the system that owns the recurring charge.
For website billing:
- use HeyGen’s Plan & Billing area,
- open Manage Billing,
- update the payment method there.
For Apple-billed subscriptions:
- manage the subscription and payment method in the Apple account.
This is one of the most important distinctions to make before repeatedly changing cards.
Renewal and recurring billing
HeyGen subscriptions can involve recurring charges, and the service may restrict access if a recurring payment cannot be collected.
If a card worked at signup but later fails at renewal, check whether it:
- expired,
- was replaced,
- lost recurring-payment permission,
- requires new authentication,
- or is blocked by the issuer.
What to check before another attempt
- Confirm web billing versus Apple billing.
- Review the active payment method in that billing channel.
- Check whether the payment is still processing.
- Complete any 3DS or bank authentication.
- Review the latest invoice or billing record.
- Avoid buying the same subscription again while an earlier payment is still pending.
When another payment method may help
If the billing route is correct and the issuer continues to reject the transaction, another supported payment method may be reasonable.
Use the AI subscription payment checklist before switching cards so you do not mistake a pending transaction or wrong billing route for a card-compatibility problem.

One possible option
Need a separate card for AI subscriptions?
I currently test and promote VCard as one possible payment option for normal AI subscriptions. Use small amounts first and remember that payment success is not guaranteed.
FAQ
Why did my HeyGen payment fail?
HeyGen billing issues can come from the payment method, the billing processor, bank authentication, or using the wrong billing channel. Website billing and Apple subscriptions are managed separately.
Where do I change my HeyGen payment method?
For active website subscriptions, HeyGen directs users to Settings → Plan & Billing → Manage Billing, where payment methods and billing information can be updated.
What if HeyGen charged me but my account still shows Free?
HeyGen says some payment methods, including certain debit cards with 3DS, may take several business days to finish processing. If payment is complete and the account still shows Free after that window, contact HeyGen support.
